“I must have flowers, always and always.” Monet
Is it possible for us to always have flowers? Wildflowers?
Wildflowers in most cultures symbolise joy but in nature wildflowers represent healthy ecosystems.
Wildflower meadows with their complex ecosystems, have a high biodiversity value. They should always be included in any smart urban landscape management.
These meadows are not only aesthetically stunning but they revegetate urban degraded soil, increase biodiversity, create habitats and conserve the local flora. All of that with low management cost.
So why must we sacrifice natural wild flowers for a concrete jungle?
We need them, yet we prefer to build a concrete jungle to destroy them?
Research said that the wildflower meadows have been in rapid decline since the 30’s, while new cities keep emerging from every corner of the world. More high-rises, less wildflowers. Soon wildflowers will be just a distance vague memory. No bees, gone butterflies and welcome sunken soil
